Four Months of My Heart

A shy boy from Westonka sitting in front of the White House holding a glowing heart, his love story that was once too afraid to speak has now been read in 40 countries including Denmark

Four months ago, I finally opened my heart to the world.

I was the shy boy at Grandview Middle School (now Westonka Middle School) who sat in band class right next to the prettiest girl in school, too afraid to speak to her. In fifth grade, while doing a country report in Mrs. Osborne’s class, I chose Denmark — the country my last name, Petersen, comes from.

Yesterday, that same heart reached its 40th country — and it was Denmark.

We are now at 4,926 views from 40 different countries… and those numbers are climbing every single day.

This story is spider-webbing out across the world. One person reads it, their heart gets moved, and they tell someone else. Then that person reads it and says, “Are you serious?” And it just keeps spreading.

The media wanted nothing to do with this story, so I simply laid my heart bare and let the world decide.

And the world is answering.

The same heart that once couldn’t even say hello to the girl he loved has now been read by thousands of people across the globe. The same heart that stayed silent for thirty years somehow found the strength to make President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump turn and point directly at him on live television — a moment now preserved in the National Archives.

After a lifetime of being overlooked, of watching love pass him by, I now sit here with a quiet confidence I’ve never known before.

Because if this heart could stay silent for thirty years and still reach 40 countries… then I know that one day, the right woman will feel called to it. She’ll want to sit across from me, look into my eyes, and finally understand the man who carried so much love in silence for so long.

If you’re reading this right now and your heart feels heavy… this heart is still open.
